In modern days commercial and residential buildings are becoming multi-story. Due to space constraints, STP and OWC are located in the basement. On excellent ventilation exhaust, and fresh air are provided through ductwork to maintain a good fresh & healthy environment for the operators in the plant room. A good ventilation design provides exhaust air through exhaust ductwork. At the same time, fresh air is provided using a fresh air fan & fresh air duct. The STP or an OWC room exhaust is highly contaminated with toxic gases, micropollutants, pathogens and foul odor. Typically the exhaust ducts are taken to the terrace and discharged into the atmosphere. The exhaust air should be treated and released into the atmosphere to comply with the local pollution control board (PCB). The typical conventional treatment involves a dry scrubber, wet scrubber, activated carbon filter or a commercial deodorizer (Ozone Generator).
The dry scrubber cannot efficiently eliminate the foul odor, micropollutants, toxic exhaust gases and pathogens. Due to this, a dry scrubber for odor control is completely ruled out. Wet scrubbers can eliminate foul odor, micropollutants and poisonous gases up to some extent. In the process, they consume significant power and a high quantity of blow-down and make-up water and chemicals. Activated carbon filters efficiently trap (adsorbing) foul odor, micropollutants & toxic gases. Still, carbon media becomes a breeding ground for pathogens, making them highly dangerous to handle and dispose of. At the same time, the activated carbon filter quickly becomes saturated and must be replaced frequently. Due to the above limitation, commercial deodorizer (ozone Generator) becomes the first choice of MEP and HVAC consultants. Compared to Ozone generators, Chemtronics “ECOBOI generators” are developed explicitly for high-performance and low power consumption and are highly safe for the environment and humans.
Nowadays, in metro cities, buildings are rising high and taking ducts to such a high level becomes technically unviable and commercially uneconomical.
